A sky for Santa Isabel
The church of Santa Isabel of Lisbon was completed in 1765, ten years after the devastating earthquake that destroyed more then half the city. It is a most beautiful and precious example of early classisist architecture. At the time, there was no money to paint the vaulted ceiling. Now it has been decided to finally give Santa Isabel a sky. I have been invited to make a project, a 1:8 scale model of which was shown at the Appleton Square exhibition space in Lisbon. Work is to begin in May of this year.
